Pre-productions: New beginnings

 Introduction:

Recently, like I said in a recent update of "teammate troubles", I started working with a new partner, and everything is going well until we realized we needed to somehow merge our movie ideas, pick one of ours, or come up with a completely new idea. Since he had a group and left due to some division of work complications, he let his old group keep his movie idea, so using his was out of the question. Since its already January and we want to have our movie finished by the end of February, we can't make a new movie, we cant merage them either because his old group took his idea and our movies were already pretty similar as it was. So since I was by myself and haven't exposed my movie much yet we only had the option of using my movie idea and gave it a few adjustments

Preliminary Exercise 17: Film Production and Postproduction.

 Introduction:

Understanding storyboarding with editing techniques in mind is very important not only to the look of the film but also do show meaning within the scenes and how the audience should feel, or what to understand about it.  Using the wrong editing technique could altar the meaning of the clip your making and if you don't take it into account you might have to start over because the clips might not match up correctly. For example, using shot reverse shot in a movie is used for conversations to show how each person reacts to the other and their words during the conversation. This helps portray the mood and tone in the movie. In this exercise me and my teammate are making small clips to help us better understand and build our editing skills.

Group progression: Teammate tranquility

  Introduction:

For the past few months, ever since my last teammate left, I have strictly been working by myself on all of my preliminary exercises and filming, but recently, another kid in my media study class has asked me to help him record his videos and brainstorm ideas for his part 1 film development. Eventually, we realized our movies have a lot in common, basically have the same ideas and we work amazingly together. So by the end of the class period, I have gain a new teammate and now we will continue working together on all of our preliminary exercises, filming, storyboarding and more

Preliminary Exercise 15: Planning, Filming, Recording and Editing Sound in Film in a Shot.

Introduction:

The purpose of this post is to give myself a little glance at what it is like to work on shots and direct them myself for my movie. I had to plan out every step i took to make the shot how it is, I had to think about mise en scene, dialogue, sound effects and more while also staying on topic for the actually scene.

Reflection:

In this exercise I learned how to format a scene. I learned that I needed to take into account other outside noises not just me, because other groups were recording too and when I finished my first draft, i could hear them in the background so I had to restart, but eventually, I got everything down. I got my lines, lighting, and mood down just how i wanted it.

Preliminary Exercise 14: Defining and Analyzing Sound in Film

Introduction:
The sound from movies is very different from the sound in real life.  For example if your stomach growls in real life that's just it- a sound from your stomach, but in a film its a whole process just to make such a simple everyday sound. This is why I have to learn how to define and analyze the many different sounds in film.

Preliminary Exercise 13: Introduction to Sound in Film (How to be a Sound Engineer)

Introduction:
Sound within the film world includes music, dialogue, sound effects, ambient noise, soundtracks and background noise. These sounds are used to help enhance the movie experience. It could help with the movie's tone, help increase mood, and more. Sound in film is very important because it helps get the message across more easily, helps show emotion, and can dictate how the mood is in the audience,

Reflection:
I learned why sound is even more important than I was led to believe in film and making movies. While writing I had to think about what might be happening and what could possibly affect the mood/tone of the movie and what would that genre typically have or say in its movies. Looking up real movies quotes and sound effects was harder than i thought because I know some of the sounds but i needed the proof for it.

Group progression: Teammate Trouble

Introduction:
My media studies group consists of myself and one other girl; from the start of my posts, we have been working together on all of the assignments and helping each other out here and there but mostly independent work. So far, this has been working out to our benefit and we both have been on track and getting good grades on our assignments because of this set-up. Today we were supposed to be working on finishing up our camera movement/video storyboards and then go think about our movie setup, but unfortunately, she left the Aice program and had to be taken out of our class so now I'm currently working by myself as a group.

Preliminary Exercises 11: Camera Movement Video Storyboard

 Introduction:

Today we will be looking more into how to make storyboards for film and TV preparation. My last post was about camerawork while this one is about camera movement. Unlike camerawork, camera movement is about capturing shot size, camera angle, framing, and composition while also being in motion and moving in any direction. Later I'm going to film these shots and it would show how accurate and helpful having a storyboard is and it has deepened my understanding of storyboard.

Reflection:
In this exercise I learned how to make a storyboard for a video so that when its time for me to film my movie, I will have a better idea of how to make it plus I will need it for my next preliminary exercise.
